    February 22, 1971-  KCNT sign on.  Owner:  Central Nebraska Technical College  (John Brooks), 10 watts at 58 feet.  Transmitter:  on East Military Drive, on campus, 3.3. miles from downtown Hastings.  Format:  Contemporary music.  Station is operated by broadcasting students.

  • 1974

    May, 1974-  Ownership name changed to Central Technical Community College.

  • 1981

    Power is increased to 2,300 watts at 182 feet.  Ownership name is changed from Central Technical Community College to Central Community College.

  • 1993

    KCNT’s tower is toppled by strong winds that temporarily puts station back at  10 watts on a long wire antenna until the new tower is constructed.

  • 2022

    Station downgrade from 2,300 watts to 1,200 watts at 164 feet, moving the transmitter to a different spot on the college campus just yards away from the old site, still on East Military Drive.
