November 17, 1968- KHNE, Channel 29 Hastings, NE signs on, owned by the Nebraska Educational Television Commission (NETC), as part of a state network of public radio and television stations in Nebraska, headquartered in Lincoln, NE.
In 1961, five VHF and three UHF channels were allocated for educational use in Nebraska.
In 1963, the state legislature approved plans for a statewide educational network, under the control of the NETC.

1972
Network headquarters were moved to the Terry M. Carpenter & Jack McBride Nebraska Public Media Center, formerly NET, at 1800 North 33rd Street in Lincoln on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska. Jack McBride was the founding General Manager and served in that capacity for 43 years.
KHNE is also aired on translator K23AA, Channel 23 in Beatrice, NE.
