September 7, 1966- KTNE Channel 13, Alliance signs on. Station is a satellite of KUON TV 12 in Lincoln, duplicating its programming, as part of a state network of public and radio televisions stations.
In 1961, five VHF and three UHF channels were allocated for educational use in Nebraska. In 1963 the state legislature approved plans for a statewide educational network, under the control of the NETC.

1972
The network operation was opened and headquartered in the Terry M. Carpenter & Jack McBride Nebraska Public Media Center, 1800 N. 33rd Street in Lincoln on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska. McBride was the founding General Manager of the network and remained so for 43 years.
KTNE also operates translators KO6JC, Channel 6 Chadron and KO6KR Channel 6 in Crawford.
