Through the Years

  • 2007

    February, 2007-Legacy Communications (Jay Vavricek) buys the construction permit for KETT/106.9 FM (Minatare) from College Creek Broadcasting for $200,000.  The sale includes KHYY, Minatare.  The construction permit was amended several times prior to Legacy’s purchase, and was ultimately changed to 99.3 Mhz.

  • 2008

    KETT signs on with 950 watts at 164 feet.  Address:  2002 Char Avenue, Scottsbluff, NE.  Transmitter location: 7 miles west of Scottsbluff at 120804 County Road 12, Mitchell, NE.  Format: Hard Rock as “99-3 The Rock,” carrying a syndicated morning show.

  • 2013

    Legacy’s KETT 99.3 Mitchell goes to Armada Media in a trade that includes seven other stations in the Scottsbluff and North Platte markets for two stations in the Holdrege, NE Market.

    November, 2013- Switches format from Active Rock “99.3 The Rock” to Adult Contemporary “Sunny 99.3.”

  • 2019

    Pending sale to the Nebraska Rural Radio Association, Legacy elects to temporarily shut down KETT for “financial reasons” because the NRRA cannot program the station due to multiple ownership limitations in the Scottsbluff market.

  • 2020

    January, 2020- Legacy Broadcasting sells KETT and several sister stations to Nebraska Rural Radio Association for $1.75 million.  NRRA simultaneously sells KETT to VSS Catholic Communications, Inc for $40,000.  VSS flips the format to religious as “Spirit 99.3.”  Power upgrade to 2,650 watts follows.

  • 2021

    Signal upgrade to 13,000 watts at 299 feet on the same tower, which is owned by NRRA.

  • 2022

    KETT temporarily operates from an NRRA tower about 6.5 miles from the original tower site, running a 1,000 watts at 117 feet while the original tower is being demolished and replaced with a new one.
